The brilliant political satire, Yes Minister and its sequel, Yes Prime Minister, written by Anthony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, won Nigel Hawthorne international fame and made him a household name in Britain. He played the scheming civil servant Sir Humphrey Appleby. The late and sadly missed Paul Eddington played the Minister, later promoted to Prime Minister (with Humpy promoted to be the Cabinet Secretary), whilst Derek Fowlds was just there as the somewhat tiring civil servant Bernard.
